Contemporary books I actually want to read

Tuesday, March 13, 2018, by taylorisreading

Hello everyone!

Today I am bringing you a post like none I have ever done before - my contemporary YA TBR! I am a YA fantasy girl through and through, but for some strange, unknown, but stunningly appealing reason I have a craving for all the sickeningly sweet and awkward teen romances. I am actually currently reading Fangirl (and adoring it).

I realized recently that there are a LOT of popular contemporary books that I haven't read, that sound interesting, just because they weren't fantasy. So, here is my list of contemporary books that I would actually really love to give a read.

An Abundance of Katherines by John Green

My roommate recently gave me her copy of this book, and I really had no intention of reading it in the past, but I am in such a contemporary mood that I feel like reading it. I've only read TFiOS and Looking for Alaska by John Green, which I loved, so I am curious to see what this one is like since both of those books were so emotionally raw and real, and with great/terribly depressing plot twists.

Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson

This is the Morgan Matson book I am probably most excited to get to. It has all kinds of crazy adventures and mysteries and boys to make it the perfect summer read.

Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

Look at all the dogs on the cover - that was probably my selling point. This book shows a girl who had everything lined up have her entire life get out of hand when her politician dad faces a scandal. Suddenly she's walking tons of dogs - I love it.

Save the Date by Morgan Matson

This new Morgan Matson book is to release on June 5, 2018, and I am so ready for it. It's about a girl, Charlie, whos older sibling is getting married, and so all of her siblings will be all together for the first time in forever, and she wants it to be absolutely perfect. Things start to take a turn for the worst as all the decisions about crushes and college, an incessantly howling dog, an awaiting storm, family drama, and a neighbor waiting to sabotage everything weighs down on her perfect plans. This sounds incredibly adorable and fun and I am ready.

To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

I have been wanting to read this book for a while now - since I heard people talk about how heart warming it is with the sisterly love and all the baking. I almost read it my junior year of high school with my school's book club, but I read the first page, put it down, and picked up a ToG book lol.

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

I love the whole premise of this book. It follows Dimple, a freshly-graduated teen girl, who can't wait to escape her mother's nagging to find the "Ideal Indian Husband" by attending a web developing summer program. However, Dimple doesn't know that the man intending to marry her, will be attending the same program to woo her. It sounds so unique and diverse, and insanely sweet with a touch of female independence. Love it.

Leave some more contemporary recs below, or your thoughts on these books!

Thanks for reading!
