Christmas Wreath Cookies

Sunday, December 23, 2018

A cookie that gets baked in the Martin household each year is the wreath cookies. They're simple and fast to make and taste like Rice Krispie Treats. And they look beautiful on a platter!

We usually make them into balls more than wreaths as you have to work fast during the decorating phase, but you can really get creative with them.

Here's what you'll need:

1/2 cup of butter
4 cups of cornflakes
30 regular marshmallows
1 tsp of green food coloring (or until desired color)
add red cinnamon candies

First you will need to melt the butter in a large saucepan on low heat.

Once the butter is melted, add the marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove the pan from the heat and add in the food coloring until you reach the desired color.

Now, add in the corn flakes slowly so they can be evenly coated by the marshmallow and green coloring.

As soon as the corn flakes are evenly coated, quickly, with buttered or greased fingers, shape the flakes into wreaths (or lumps). Before the cookies can cool, place the red candies on as you please -- I like to do bunches of three.

There you have it, cute Christmas Wreath cookies! I think they would be a great treat to bring to any holiday party or just to have for eating throughout the holiday season.

Hope you enjoy and thanks for reading!
